Right off the bat just recently, we have yet another saddening case of cat torture happening in China
Her name was Xiao Xue (J ) - "Little Snow."
Xiao Xue was beaten with an iron hammer and sticks before being set on fire alive by three children in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, China.
She did not survive.
According to Sing Tao Headline, police identified the minors and their parents - who received warnings and educational guidance rather than penalties.
The response has sparked widespread criticism in China and abroad, with many arguing it does not reflect the severity of the violence.
Many have also noted the similarities between this case and the recent killing of Wang Wang and her puppies, who were also beaten and set on fire by minors.
These cases are not isolated, Xiao Xue's abuse follows patterns frequently seen in organised online cat-torture groups.
One of the reasons this violence persists is that mainland China still lacks comprehensive national animal welfare legislation prohibiting cruelty against cats and other animals, This legal gap makes it difficult to hold perpetrators accountable.
As a result, Xiao Xue and thousands of other victims have endured prolonged and extreme abuse at the hands of organised cat torture networks and copycat offenders - an increasing number of whom are minors.
Without stronger legal protections, these acts of extreme violence will continue.
Sign and share this petition to build awareness of the heinous cruelty these innocent cats have been subjected to and to make a change to the Chinese animal welfare legislation.
Thank you to everyone who have signed the petition so far.
