Wisconsin lawmakers introduce bill banning gain-of-function research on potential pandemic pathogens

A bill has been introduced in the Wisconsin state legislature to ban gain-of-function research on potential pandemic pathogens. This is an important step. Legislators in all 50 states should pass state bans on enhancing potential pandemic pathogens.

The University of Wisconsin, University of North Carolina, University of Texas, and St. Jude have been important US locations for high-risk enhanced potential pandemic pathogens research. Therefore, legislation banning enhanced potential pandemic pathogens research in WI, NC, TX, and TN will be especially consequential.
