The University of Wisconsin, University of North Carolina, University of Texas, and St. Jude have been important US locations for high-risk enhanced potential pandemic pathogens research. Therefore, legislation banning enhanced potential pandemic pathogens research in WI, NC, TX, and TN will be especially consequential.

Florida already has banned enhanced potential pandemic pathogens research. And Texas is also considering a bill to ban enhanced potential pandemic pathogens research.
