Parents are arrested in Japan for trying to check on abducted children
France, Australia, the US, Germany, Russia, Korea, Canada, Mexico, Lithuania, Finland, Italy, Spain, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland … these are all countries with children abducted in Japan! And that does not include the tens of thousands of Japanese parents affected each year.

These parents do not just lose custody. They lose complete parental authority post-divorce. That means they no longer have access or any decision-making power over their own child’s schooling, health decisions, etc. Their child can even be adopted by a step-parent or another guardian without that parent’s consent, completely erasing the parent out of a child’s life.

この親達は、親権を失っただけではなく、離婚後ありとあらゆる子供に関する権利や機会を失います。子の診療録や、学校関連の情報へのアクセスはもちろん、教育や進路といった意思決定にも携わることが出来ません。また、養子縁組や後見人の決定権も持てません。親権を失った親は子の人生から消されてしまうのです。

このスコットさんも単独親権制度の被害者なのです。”ただ子に会おうとしただけ”で刑務所に2ヶ月も入れられてしまいました。
