5 lug 2018 — Question: Have you ever felt despair or hopelessness? Or that you’ve let people or down? That’s how I’m feeling. I found out today that my petition is not valid. Who’d have thought the front page would determine if you could submit it to Parliament or not. Because the original front page was addressed to the wrong people, (not the senate) and I also changed the letter when David Littleproud took over, these actions have made this petition absolutely useless. I am SO, SO sorry. I have wasted everyone’s time by running this petition and I feel I have let everyone AND the animals down. I’m not too sure what to do from here, as far as the petition goes I mean. I will still take it to the Protest March but then I’ll probably have to bring it back home and use it as a reminder of the bureaucratic Bull S.... our government puts in place to stop Aussies from reminding them how pathetic they, AND some of their rules are. What started out as “I want to make a difference, it can’t be too hard to run a petition” has turned into a nightmare. I had the petition printed off and I was sorting the pages out when I received the email to say The Senate would not accept it.. I phoned the petition officer at Parliament House and was told, it wasn’t addressed properly, “The letter” was deemed abusive and I’d changed “The Letter” during the run of the petition, so it is invalid and I’d have to start all over again. How on earth would I get nearly 203,000 signatures again and in a month and a half.... I cannot afford to do another petition, you don’t want to know how much it cost me to have it printed. But I’m looking at a government e petition, that way I don’t have to print it off. However I’m not too sure if this type of petition can be sent to The House Of Representatives or if it HAS to go to the senate. I guess now I have to go and research ALL the requirements and consider starting from scratch. Seriously I thought about starting a petition to make getting petitions into parliament easier....but it probably wouldn’t be addressed to the correct people.. One thing I don’t understand is why change.org allow us to change the petition “Letter”. If it is illegal in certain instances. I hope everyone will still support the animals and the Lets Stop The Death Ships and Stand Against Live Export Facebook pages. I’m NOT giving up in the animals or this cause. I’ve also sought legal advice on how this was allowed to happen, especially as I’d emailed a senator who looked at my petition early last year, I’d have thought this senator would have told me it was incorrectly addressed... I will also have to keep this “petition” open as it’s the only way to keep in contact with many of the supporters. If I get any good news regarding the petition, I’ll post it immediately. I am extremely sorry this has happened.
