The draft regulations in respect of domestic trade in rhino horn were published in the Government Gazette No. 40601 Notice No. 74 on 8th February 2017, for public comment for a period of 30 days.

The provisions for regulations 3.1A, 3.3, 4.1, 7.3, 10.2.B, 12.2, 12.3, and 13.1 were not included, members of the public are therefore invited to present written representations or objections to these inclusions by 21st October 2018.

In true form the late Minister Molewa has once again and finally illustrated her distain for true public participation in a matter of national importance.

GMFER asks that the law governing the domestic trade in rhino horn in South Africa be overturned with immeadiate effect.
