Fig Tree Destroyed This Morning

School Board Chair Dan Gustafson and Tony Albini stood by today as construction crews destroyed a nearly century-old fig tree to make way for a small section of plastic turf. Among the many excuses given were: We have no proof that figs were eaten or used by students at Adele Middle School. We are taking cuttings to grow new fig trees. This tree isn't as old as you think it is. It's more important for kids to play soccer. The plans were made public. It will cost too much money to save it. People who signed the petition don't live in Sonoma.
