Make people feel included

Thanks to all that have signed so far, please keep this one circulating. Small town mentality is something that exists, but it doesn't get much publicity. Being inclusive is key to everyone getting on. I moved from the South East to the South West and was completely ignorant to how excluded this behaviour can make you feel.

When I first moved here I had a nice young chap come up to me, and his first words were "We look after our own here", I thought to myself what a spiteful and odd thing to say to someone that you have only just met.

As the years have gone on I've been victim to verbal abuse from our neighbours, next door neighbours that constantly play mind games. Cold shouldering from other locals after they find out you aren't from around the local area. I've spoken to others that have similar concern to myself and they have said that it's almost like they want you to fail.

This behaviour should stop! If someone chooses to move somewhere else, away from their home county, country,  regardless of where it's from, be it Africa, Poland or another part of the UK, make them feel included and welcome. The world would be a much happier place.

Small town mentality is something that has been around for years and sometimes get passed down the generations. Please help to stamp this behaviour out.
