India's First War for Independence started in 1857 against the British Army due to introduction of Enfield Riffles for which the cartridge used to be lubricated by fat of Cow and Pigs. The Indian Sepoys were ordered to open these cartridge by these mouth before loading them in the riffle. Cows are considered sacred in Hindus whereas Muslims would never consume pig fat. Both Hindu and Muslim Indian Sepoys refused to follow this order and decided to revolt against the British Army. 

Today after more than 70 years of Independence you would be surprised to know that we are being compelled to consume Cow and Pig Fat in form of Gelatin Capsules for our Medicines. Even Tablets are being coated with Gelatin.

Mrs Menaka Gandhi raised this issue in March 2016 and a committee was formed in June 2017 by the Health Minister to promote the usage of Veg HPMC Capsules instead of Gelatin Capsules. The Pharma Industry is reluctant to use Veg HPMC Capsules as Veg Capsules are little costlier than the Gelatin Capsules. BWC Beauty Without Cruelty gave presentation to the Health Ministry on this issue, but no concrete steps have been taken.

We demand Health Minister and our Prime Minister to look into this serious matter.
