We have received a reply from the Petitions Office and the wording of our petition conforms with the standing orders of the Senate. However, we are informed we have to be more specific about the action we'd like the Government to take (or not take as the case may be).
For this purpose we invite everyone to participate in open group discussions on Facebook.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/australiandoofsociety/
The main aim is to ensure the Government 'crackdown' on music is not passed into legislation (overnight) without first hearing from those it would effect.
We'll be organising discussions into 4 main categories, since the proposed crackdowns will effect each of us in different ways:
1) Attendees (ie: driving up ticket prices, reducing entertainment choices)
2) Artisans and Musicians (ie: undermining development, overlooking employment opportunities)
3) Organisers and Venues (ie: lack of collaboration, fuelling conflict, liability & criminality)
4) Private home gatherings (ie: stigma/discrimination, liability & criminality)
All suggestions are welcome and will go a long way towards helping us to identify Parliamentary actions to attach to our petition. Thank you in advance.
Peace, Love, Unity and Respect!
