It’s becoming increasingly clear that Queensbury Tunnel is just the tip of Highways England’s destructive iceberg.
Our grand feat of Victorian enterprise is one of 134 disused railways structures threatened with infilling or demolition by the state-owned roads company; almost 500 more could be demolished once the ongoing first phase has been completed.
