Dear all

Covid had stopped all forestry operations in the Clashindarroch whilst full lockdown was in place. However, last week the restrictions were lifted allowing logging operations to continue. One of our volunteers went to the forest to look around and reported that logging has recommenced immediately. We are absolutely appalled by this. It is the middle of the Wildcat breeding season and mothers will have young kittens in dens sites. Such disturbance can cause mothers to abandon or even eat their kittens due to extreme stress. This renewed activity is potentially devastating for this year’s breeding season. We currently have a team of professional ecologists, lawyers and field work staff working flat out to attempt to get special designation for the site which will stop this destruction and disturbance forever. We will also be reporting this activity to Police Scotland as it is a criminal offence to disturb a wildcat.
