We need to keep working: DO NOT ALLOW THE CREMATORIUM TO PROGRESS TO PUBLIC HEARING.
If the application gets to public hearing, IT WILL BE TOO LATE TO STOP IT because the crematorium will already be approved by Mayor and Council at First and Second reading.
IF MAYOR AND COUNCIL GRANT FIRST AND SECOND READING, THE PUBLIC HEARING WILL BE A MERE FORMALITY AND THE CREMATORIUM WILL GET APPROVED.
We need to stop the crematorium RIGHT NOW.
PLEASE COPY AND PASTE THE FOLLOWING LETTER to Mayor, Council, and the City of Surrey's Planning Department:
Dear Mayor and Council,
Re: Development Application 23 - 000127
Five Rivers does not want to purchase land in an appropriate area because the price for 12 acres of industrial land is significantly more than the paltry $6 million that Five Rivers paid for the current location.
Other businesses and organizations are forced to abide by the City of Surrey's land use policy, but not Five Rivers. Other businesses and organizations are forced to purchase appropriately zoned land at high market rates, but not Five Rivers.
This is extreme favouritism from Mayor and Council. Even the City's Planning and Engineering staff have stated that the location at 9280 and 9350 168 Street is completely inappropriate and have strongly recommended that the application be denied. The fact that the application is still progressing is a sign of shocking corruption at the City of Surrey.
The voters in Surrey have four key questions:
- Why is the crematorium and funeral home being located in a residential and ecologically sensitive area?
- Why is it not being located in the industrial area of the Anniedale-Tynehead NCP?
- If it can’t be located in the industrial area of Anniedale-Tynehad, why is it not being located in one of the many other industrial areas in Surrey:
Campbell Heights Business Park , South Westminster and Bridgeview Industrial Areas, Port Kells Industrial Area , Newton Industrial Areas and Business Parks, Cloverdale Industrial Areas, Rosemary Heights Business Park, Highway 99 Corridor, Douglas Industrial Area - Why are other businesses forced to abide by land use regulations and pay high market rates for appropriate land?
Please provide responses to the above four questions as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Concerned Surrey Resident
