New National Points Rules: USA Fencing Wants Your Feedback

Hi, friends.
If you’re still fencing (and I hope that you are!) you’ve probably heard about the new Unified National Points System.
If you competed in the October NAC last weekend you got a chance to see the new rules in action.
I have some concerns about the new changes. I addressed those concerns to USFA leadership by completing the form at this link:
Tell USA Fencing What You Think About the New Rules
I encourage you to do the same. Things this big never work well when there’s only a single voice in the room.
As soon as you’ve filled out your response please share the link with your friends, coaches & fencers. The folks at the top are having a meeting tomorrow. Tell them your thoughts, please. This is not a one-size fits all situation so be as specific as you can be about how it impacts you and your family.
My most adamant suggestion:
Instead of full operation of the new system (with the legacy system running in the background) do the inverse: full operation of the legacy system (with the new system running in the back ground). Full transparency. Both lists online all the time for all to see. Careful deliberation and monitoring. Room for correctable error. It maintains predictability for those who’ve worked hard to build their record for the last year while allowing for quality monitoring of fresh ideas.
I have some other ideas about regional growth that doesn’t hop-skip the line of seasoned national competitors but I’ll save that for another day. For now, just ask them to slow down the train before we have a big mess on our hands. The Olympics are right around the corner. We don’t need a national fiasco.
Thanks a million and see you soon.
