Many of you will have seen recent news in relation to planned demolition of Glovers Walk for redevelopment. QCG fully support any investment into Yeovil that will help our Town Centre, existing business and bringing new business into our town.

However for those of you who have looked at the details of this proposal - currently (unless Somerset Council are keeping things very close to their chest) there is no proposal! 

The plan to date has been to purchase it at a knock down price (after the previous investor pulled out) and then demolish the area. There is talk of a 'meanwhile use' for the area and a consultation is now underway (outsourced to Yeovil Art Space by SC)! But with the demolition due to take place next month, there will be no output in advance of these irreversible actions.

We at QCG do not believe that this demolition should take place UNTIL a full proposed plan and details of how it will be paid for has been published (for both the short-term 'meanwhile use' and longer term).

Maybe the residents of Yeovil are just sceptical given the many promises by Somerset Council that have yet to be fulfilled but we insists that plans are provided before any work commences.

Please help fight another 'knee jerk' plan from Somerset Council by signing our petition.
