Just over twelve months ago we started our journey and I thank you for your support.

We are on the way to achieving our next goal: 3,000 signatures.

Around this time next year, the Victorian State Election will be in full swing and sitting MPs (and those wanting to become MPs) will be out on the hustings armed with their various promises.

It’s the aim of this petition to become one of those promises.

Fundamentally, the message is that Western Port and its region is an environmental entity and as a consequence, best managed from a bioregion / water catchment perspective under a legislated regional strategic management plan.

In raising this concept with politicians on both sides of the political divide, I’ve found their thinking is hemmed in by their desire to retain their own seat and seems to negate any holistic approach they may otherwise consider.

The petition challenges this thinking and asks our politicians to help us secure the economic and environmental wellbeing of Western Port and its region, for if we get it wrong, future generations will not thank us.
