Save Trees, Stop the Experiments: Citizens Replant 20 Trees, Demand Tree Authority Accountability

The Tree Authority must replant trees at the same locations where trees have been felled. Elected representatives (councillors) should also be appointed to the Tree Authority so that accountability is ensured.

Incidents of tree destruction have been reported at Nagar Naka–Daulatabad Road, GHATI Hospital, Garware Stadium, Shivajinagar, WALMI, Ajanta, Mitra Nagar, Vivekanand College and several other locations. Citizens have repeatedly raised complaints and objections with the administration. The Tree Authority must clearly state its position on these incidents.

Today, responding to the call by One Tree Sambhajinagar, environmental volunteers came together and took the initiative to replant at the same location where trees had been destroyed by miscreants. With the participation of 10+ volunteers, 20 trees were planted. The initiative was led by Krishna Zadade and me.

Planting new trees elsewhere cannot compensate for the destruction of existing trees. Wherever possible, trees must be replanted at the same location and mature trees must be protected. Save trees. Stop experiments on trees. The administration must take this issue seriously and take concrete action.
