Over the past few weeks, many of you have asked what the most impactful next step is. Right now, this is it.

The next Neighborhood Revitalization Zone (NRZ) meeting is one week from today:

Thursday, February 12 at 6:00 PM

University of Bridgeport – Bauer Hall

82 Marina Park Circle, Bridgeport, CT

This meeting’s first agenda item is an update from the developer on the demolition itself. You will be able to ask the developer questions directly. (The following NRZ meeting on March 12 will focus on future planning beyond demolition.)

There is a Zoom option if needed:  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87987391733

That said, in-person attendance matters. Numbers matter. Presence matters. This is where real influence happens.

We’ve heard from many South End residents recently, and overwhelmingly, people want the smokestack to remain — including residents who have lived next to it for decades. Others feel differently, and that’s exactly why everyone should attend and speak. This is about giving a voice to those who haven’t felt it mattered before, not influencing an outcome one way or another.

Demolition is currently slated for April — just two months away. There is also an upcoming meeting between coalition leaders and the State, and showing visible public engagement before that meeting is critical.

If you want to help beyond attending the NRZ meeting:

- Bring neighbors and friends from Bridgeport

- Share this meeting with South End, Downtown, and nearby Bridgeport residents

- Hand out or post flyers (email us if interested! See the email address below, do not reply to this email)

- Reach out to state officials, senators, and city leaders now, not later

- Email us (bpt.advocacy@gmail.com) for more ways to contribute and get involved

This is likely the last window to influence what happens. If this site — and how Bridgeport chooses to shape its future — matters to you, please be there.

Thank you for staying engaged,
