You can now watch the recording of last night's Public Hearing at the Board of Education.
Three speakers testified about Piney Branch. There were also questions from the Board about the pool. We need to continue to help the Board to understand that preventing the loss of the pool is a historic racial equity issue. And we need to continue to explain that the pool is part of a negotiated agreement in which the City gave the County the land to build a needed school, with the promise that it would also benefit the greater community (the pool and large gym fulfill that promise). You can help! Submit your comment to the Board NOW (by Monday), to BOETestimony@mcpsmd.org.
This was a four hour meeting! You can find City Councilmember Kurt Gilbert (Ward 4) at timestamp 16:10. City Councilmember Amy Wesolek (Ward 6) is at timestamp 26:25. Important Board discussion about Piney Branch occurs at timestamps 1:09:00 and 1:13:10 and 1:17:00. Sue Miller (answering some of the Board's questions) is at timestamp 2:49:30.
