Petition updateSave The Oregon Coast!U.S. Fish & Wildlife cites European Beachgrass for endangering coastal plant, risking extinction

Invasive European Beach Grass has now prompted protection of "sand dune phacelia" along the Southern Oregon Coast under the Endangered Species Act. The over-stabilization of sand dunes is pushing the plant to near extinction. The designation is good news for Southern Oregon.
Unfortunately the designation does nothing to stop the damage European Beachgrass continues to wreak on the North Coast. Hopefully, Oregon State Parks and coastal communities will take note and start working to stop the unnatural building of sand dunes and narrowing of beaches along the Northern Oregon Coast.
