Dear Nicole,

Please be careful to believe what you find on social media. There are a flurry of AI generated stories out there as well as individuals that just try to stir the pot. So far COS have live captured 4 adult bears and ruled out via DNA testing that these bears were involved in the attack. All 4 have been released away from the community. To the best of my knowledge no bears have been killed by COS over this incident. However, we have word that some residents are trying to take matters into their own hands, targeting random bears. COS and RCMP are working together to stop such behaviour and again I have no confirmed death of bears so far. 
We are in contact with COS should cubs become orphaned.  I hope this helps to settle your concerns. Thank you for caring.
