Hello to all supporters:
From fellow petitioner and professor at Algonquin College:
Unfortunately as expected, the board voted to suspend 31 programs and cancel 6 last night. There was a premade PowerPoint with the highlight of the 25 minutes dedicated to 37 programs, hundreds of staff and students, it was transparently obvious they had already made up their minds and it was a rather sad presentation in so many ways.
No questions were asked or answered around some of the more concerning issues and taping up windows and having security guards outside the room spoke volumes. The messaging was clearly an attempt at damage control and optics. Not unexpected, but disappointing. Hoping the election brings some funding and the affected learners can find ways to their pathways and dreams despite these set backs. Speaking of dreams, may yours be fulfilled and never squashed by bureaucracy.
We ain't done yet, folks! Suspended does not mean canceled. More to come.
