Thanks for your fantastic support ... fewer fish farms but now they will be even bigger

Thank you everyone for your most marvellous support. We have had over 1,100 messages of support. The fish farm operator, CAS, is now consulting on reducing the number of salmon fish farms around the island -- but sadly they are still pressing ahead with East Moclett and it looks like Vestness (pictured above) will be increased in size and capacity. The key question now is how big is this expansion in waters around Papa Westray. That's still not clear. CAS have made promises about the environmental impact and a commitment to lower carbon operations, including an electric feed barge.  Let's hope that Marine Scotland, SEPA and the Orkney Islands Council work harder to protect the seas around the wonderful Orkney islands.
