At Memphis Street Academy (MSA), we recognize middle school is a pivotal time for social-emotional development. Our students face immense challenges outside of school — walking through drug-ridden areas, witnessing violence and prostitution, and navigating unsafe conditions. These daily struggles take a toll on their well-being, making social-emotional learning (SEL) more critical than ever.
Through the Behavioral and Emotional Screening System (BESS) and our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), we provide targeted interventions to help students manage external stressors. These initiatives allow us to create individualized strategies to address students’ social, emotional, and academic needs. Whether through counseling services, peer support programs, or classroom-based interventions, we are committed to fostering a safe, nurturing environment where every student can thrive.
By prioritizing SEL, we empower MSA scholars to build resilience, develop healthy coping skills, and reach their full potential. Thank you for your continued support!
