It’s time to raise our voices once again.

Today, May 7th at noon, the Board of Natural Resources is meeting at McLane Creek to discuss the future of Maturation II forests. You can view the meeting agenda here:

While the DNR has temporarily tabled the clearcutting of the area, formerly known as Bears U1 & U2, the forest remains under consideration for logging in 2027.

Your voice matters! Please take a moment to email the Board and urge them to protect this irreplaceable habitat. These mature trees offer critical shade, slope stability, and a haven for wildlife. Once they’re gone, the McLane Creek ecosystem—and the beloved nature trail so many of us cherish—will be forever altered. The serenity of the trail would be replaced with the stark reality of clearcut hills.

Now is the perfect time to reach out. With the Board visiting the site in person today, your email will land while the beauty of the forest is still fresh in their minds.
