Manila Skatepark, since its inception by Mayor Erap Estrada in 2015, has been much more than a public facility; it has been a nurturing home for local skateboard enthusiasts of all ages. The bond of friendship and shared love for skateboarding that have been built at the park is invaluable and irreplaceable.

This year, in 2025, our beloved skatepark was shockingly demolished without any prior notice or posted permits. Erasing this cultural and communal hotspot in such an abrupt manner is not only alarming but also disheartening for many who called this park their home.

The skatepark, in its ten years of existence, has fostered an active, vibrant community and has been pivotal in flourishing the skate scene in Manila. The abrupt and unannounced shutdown of the park is an undue setback for the sport and the skaters in the city. 

To reinstate the cultural gem that Manila Skatepark is, we urgently appeal the city authorities to reconsider their decision. The park is not just a cluster of ramps and rails; it is a symbol of unity, community and public art.
