Our voices have been heard: Portland Parks and Recreation is putting a pause on the project and will conduct a community listening session!

We're leaving the petition live, so we can easily communicate with you about when and where the listening session will take place. This fantastic news is a testament to the strength of the Lents Dog Park Community and also Parks & Recreation's commitment to serving Portlanders. In order to go into the listening sessions prepared, there is some prep work that will benefit from community involvement.

Here are the next steps:

  1. Watch your email for updates on the listening sessions
  2. Please add a comment to the petition about what you'd like to happen with the Dog Park. I cannot overstate how important your voices are in this process.
  3. Join the planning team: contact us using the form on our website: savelentsdogpark.org.
    • There are some potential points of disagreement between what Parks and Rec and the Dog Park Community want from the project. The Dog Park Community is most likely to get desirable results if we come into the listening sessions with a strong, well-researched plan. Do you have ideas for improvements, or experience in city planning, project management, or landscape architecture? We'd love to have your help crafting a plan proposal that meets Parks & Rec's criteria while also serving the current community.

Again, thank you all for signing and sharing this petition. It is so uplifting to see our community of dog lovers come together to save our community space. See you at the Dog Park!
