Dear Lagniappe supporters,

I’m thrilled to finally be able to write with some good news. Thanks to the support of all of you, the New Trier Administration has agreed to bring back an original, student-written sketch comedy show for the 2025-2026 school year. There will be an informational meeting for students coming up soon – on May 23, 2025. The show is scheduled for April 2026. This is a great result as it will give the students, and the greater arts-supporting community, a chance to show the value in maintaining a parody-style show at New Trier. So thank you again for your advocacy and your support.

We are still hoping the administration will provide some important details. We don’t know, yet, who will supervise the production, whether students will still be allowed leadership roles, whether it will involve any music, and just generally what the scope of the production will be. The administration also seems resistant to officially calling it Lagniappe. But then again, New Trier also tried to rebrand final exams as “end of semester experiences,” so I don’t think we need to get hung up on the name. In substance, we have our show back. And we, as students, are excited to make it a great production.
