Thank you for your petition started on 31st December 2016 regarding Kristi’s Shoe repairs of Ilford.
I am Operations Director for the new Elizabeth line service and I am replying on behalf of Mike Brown and Leon Daniels of Transport for London (TfL).
The design of the new station entrance on Cranbrook Road is now far advanced. It is designed to accommodate future passenger flows and safeguards for future growth within Redbridge. Within the same area as the current building, the new building will include greater space for passenger movement, more ticket barriers and larger ticket hall; three new lifts to create step-free access from street to platform and wide doorways onto the street to replace the single one currently in use.
The design does not accommodate any business units in the layout, but in any case, lettings would be on an open market basis so it would not be possible to guarantee particular opportunities for current traders within the station.
The redevelopment and improvement of Ilford Station has long been part of the Crossrail project. Owners and occupiers of Ilford Station were included in the procedures of the Crossrail Bill when it went through Parliament and given the chance to petition the Select Committee which examined the legislation. Since the Crossrail Act was passed in 2008 I know that colleagues from TfL’s Operational Property team have been in contact with you to explain the acquisition process and likely timing, and that you have appointed an independent surveyor to act on your behalf, paid for by the project.
We have confirmed that you can continue trading until the site is needed by the project, and that this will not be before September 2017. We hope that you and your agent continue your search for alternative premises, including those advertised within the TfL-managed network. For all issues relating to relocation and compensation, you and your agent should continue to liaise with your existing contact in TfL’s Operational Property team.
