Hello Everyone
Karen has now been in Conquest hospital for more than 1 year and 4 months. Karen is continuing to have TPN (IV feeding) and IV fluid in hospital. Heather usually stays with Karen 24/7 in hospital.
On Wednesday the 7th of May Heather got chest pain. She phoned Michael (Karen’s dad) to tell him to come and be with Karen. Heather was taken from the ward Karen is on to A&E. A while later a blood test was taken. When the results came back an hour later, they showed that Heather had had a heart attack and she was moved straight to the resus area. Michael & Karen could not get Heather on her mobile for a while, then got message from one of the ward staff that resus had phoned asking for Michael to go there and that they would update him when he got there. We were very scared. Shortly after this (before Michael got there) Heather was ‘blue lighted’ to the Cardiac Care unit (CCU) at Eastbourne District General Hospital (DGH) which is 20 miles away. At the CCU she had an angiogram (a test which checks for narrowing/blockages in the heart). Heather then had a procedure called angioplasty to widen arteries in her heart.
Heather is doing ok. She expected to be in hospital for several more days and will then need to rest at home.
Michael is staying with Karen 24/7 at Conquest hospital. Steven (Karen’s brother) is looking after our cat Tia Nang.
Unfortunately, the mobile phone signals are bad at Conquest hospital and even worse at Eastbourne DGH so Karen, Michael & Heather were not able to speak to each other until late afternoon on Thursday, have only had one call together and reception kept breaking up during the call.
As you will imagine we were already under extreme stress because of Karen’s situation. We are now even more upset, worried and stressed.
Thank you to everyone for your support.
Best wishes to you all
Karen, Heather & Michael
