Friends - ANOTHER URGENT plea for help!
On Wednesday morning, February 11, the Iowa Senate committee on State Government will vote on SSB 3033, the DAS-sponsored bill to eliminate language requiring an "Iowa City" research center from the Iowa Code.
Will you please immediately send an email to each of the State Government Committee members, stating your opposition to the bill?
Over 125 individuals submitted written comments to the subcommittee members and we ask that you send those same messages out again. We need voices from across Iowa but particularly from those who reside in Senate Districts represented by committee members.
Now is the time to help legislators understand what is at stake and how this bill will impact Iowans if passed. Please encourage legislative oversight based on public input, request careful scrutiny of the justifications used for closing the Centennial building, and ask your representatives to abide by the existing Iowa Code while the legal challenges to the DAS decision proceed through the courts.
