More than 700 supporters in a week! Thank you for your incredible support. These are the last few days to submit a response West Devon Borough Council's proposed development of Hog's Wood (Wonnacott's Meadow) in Okehampton. It'll only take a minute, but the effects will resonate for longer than our lifetimes. Links below:

If you need a starting point, we're highlighting the following:
* The area should be preserved as green space and be formally protected, either by WDBC or another suitable body.
* It is a unique nature space and wildlife corridor in the centre of town, supporting ecology beyond its borders.
* It is a valuable community asset for individuals, families and those with mobility issues.
* Development would dramatically increase risk of flooding within the locality.
Existing informal parking on one area helps alleviate parking issues for people locally, and development would increase the need for parking in an already pressured situation.
* There are other ways to meet affordable housing needs, including incorporating them into the planned major housing developments for the town.
* The benefit from a small number of houses able to be developed on site is vastly outweighed by the damage to the natural environment and the considerable unnecessary mitigation that would need to take place to 'offset' it.
