Blackbuck reportedly found dead at IIT-M on June 19th

A female blackbuck was found dead yesterday (19 June) reportedly within the fenced off area of the Director's Bungalow inside IIT Madras, suspected that the antelope was attacked by dogs and was unable to escape because of the fence around the bungalow. Blackbucks like vast open grounds where dogs are no match for their speed and agility. This comes barely a week after IIT Madras made a big show of its compassion by announcing that it will set up deer corridors within the campus. Deer corridors don't need to be set up by engineers. This is the second blackbuck death in two months. IIT-M has constructed buildings over 52 acres of open lands and forests over the last 10 years, more than doubling on-campus resident student population.
