The City’s consultation survey is now open - please fill it in before 18 June

The City of London’s refurbishment consultation survey is now open and closes on 18 June. The committee votes on 30 June. This is your chance to put your views directly on the record before that decision is made.

We have raised formal concerns about the survey design with the City. Most importantly, questions 15, 17 and 18 ask you to rate the importance of wellbeing studios, consultation and treatment space, and a power-assisted studio. What the survey does not tell you is that these three facilities only exist under Option B - the option that removes the sports hall. Rating them highly is effectively a vote for Option B without being told that is what you are doing. We have asked the City to label these questions clearly. They have not yet done so.
On question 16 - the sauna and steam room - this is not exclusive to one option, but we would note that in our conversations with the community, very few people have expressed a strong desire for a sauna. Many more have expressed a desire to keep the sports hall, the pool spectator seating, and the activities that currently take place in the multi-use hall.
What we suggest:
• Rate the swimming pool, sports hall, badminton courts and tennis courts as 5 - Very important
• For questions 15, 17 and 18, answer honestly but know that these facilities only exist if the sports hall is removed
• Use the free text boxes to say what the centre means to you - those responses go directly to the committee
