Hello to everyone that has signed my petition.
Its been 2 years since the last Bournemouth air festival was held. We have since passed the 2,000 signature level, with the petition continuing to be shared across platforms such as Instagram and more. I've been made aware of a new petition with the same goal, and believe this is excellent, more people with the same idea, however our efforts should be concentrated together, not separate, as this would increase our chance at getting a response from the council, who I will be contacting in the near future regarding my petition.
Its certainly been evident that Bournemouth has lost some of its appeal now other than the beach, and it shows, the weekend that the festival should have been held last year was a much quieter one, with less money spent across local hotels and businesses, and many less families coming to visit our seaside town, something that with the air show could have been completely different.
I am actively investigating other opportunities now, such as going down the route of requesting an individual flypast from the red arrows for the 2027 season as a way to increase promotion for a potential return of the festival in the future. This petition has already achieved more than I initially expected, and that is entirely down to everyone who has signed it and continued to share it.
