The undersigned Civic organizations, National affiliates, Community and Neighborhood Associations listed below are writing this opposition to the DOT plans for 31 Street.

We stand in complete solidarity with the 31st Street Business Association's position in this matter.

Many of these groups represent a varied cross section of our neighborhoods, especially the affected area, and have been active for decades in their communal effort to make our neighborhoods and city a better place to live and work.

We adamantly feel that this plan, which was shelved already once by DOT, should not be considered again nor should it be considered an improvement to our neighborhood. The plan will negatively affect small businesses, many of whom are still struggling to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, negatively affect first responder access to 31st Street, and negatively affect the Astoria community as a whole.

After seeing the engineering disaster and public safety issues that have been created on Crescent Street and 31 Avenue, we are standing together to firmly say NO to the 31st Street DOT plan.
