Seriously? THIS is how our Mayor responds to a humanitarian DISASTER created by the elimination of 10k units of affordable housing since 2010? $12.5 million for an "intake center/shelter in TWO YEARS? Plans for "interim shelter" in a FEW MONTHS?
It took less than a week to provide Emergency Shelter at Qualcomm Stadium for 1000s made homeless by wildfires in 2007. The Plan to do that is still in place. Please Share this Petition and encourage others to Sign and Share it!
"San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer last week announced that the city plans to spend $12.5 million on an intake center that will house a few hundred homeless people and assign them case workers to help lead them to self-sufficiency.
"The opening of the center may be a couple of years away, so the city also has plans to create more interim housing for homeless people somewhere downtown. Details of that plan are expected to be released in a few months."
