Just down the hill from Big Bear is the Apple Valley Animal Shelter. But what most people don't know is that MOST of these dogs and cats at this facility come from the Devore Animal Shelter AND the mountain and desert regions. You know all those dogs people dump on mountain roads coming up here, this is where they go. All those dead dogs along the 18, these are the ones that survived. They are all given exactly 3 days to find a home. If the shelter is not full which this shelter is always full because of the contract they have with the County, they won't make it out. Maybe they may get as many as 15 days but because no shelter in the middle of no where could place this many, they die. So I beg of you to please consider adopting these abandoned dogs and cats at Apple Valley Animal Pound or at least like or share because they truly are the animals abandoned in our community. I have no idea how to stop the problem but I give all I got to try and stop it. My partner recently left me because it has become all about the dogs and cats. But that's okay...I get it. Not his battle on this day. But I will continue to hold up their flag of surrender until the shelter is empty begging you for them to not let them die like this. I've got 11 i've personally buried and 5 dogs and a cat. My vet bills are through the roof. I literally am giving all I got. But I can ask...I can ask for your help in stopping this insanity. I've got that left in me. If you have a best friend and spend any amount of time with them, you know why I'm sharing this with a tear running down my cheek. They don't deserve this. Not like this.
