I was just contacted by Hope Marshall, the exhibit coordinator, who shared that renovations are being planned for the barn where rabbits are exhibited. While it’s great that building improvements are being considered, renovations alone do not address the immediate and serious risk of heat distress for rabbits. The project is still in the planning phase, and unless those plans include converting the space into a fully air-conditioned indoor facility, the core problem remains. Rabbits are highly vulnerable to heat, and without reliable temperature control, they will continue to face preventable suffering during hot weather. This is why a clear heat cancellation policy is still necessary to protect rabbit welfare.
