The reasons you signed...

As I had some spare time yesterday I decided to finally sit down and read the comments many of you have left about why you have signed. I thought it would take about half and hour - I had no idea there were SO many! There were over 700! I read every single one - and they brought me to tears. For those of you who know me personally you will know this is not something that happens easily. I can only apologise it has taken me until now to read them all. I did try to "like" them all, but I think I must've been logged out or reached my quota as somewhere around the 500 comment mark I was no longer able to acknowledge I had read them. They have certainly spurred me on to keep driving this campaign forward, and if ever I need reassurance why we’re working so hard towards this end goal I only need to look at the reasons you have signed. With only 2 days until the end of March and therefore until our year of noting the number of transplants carried out in the UK is up - I produced hard copies of the petition along with an sheet regarding the latest organ donation statistics and a FAQ leaflet about what changing to the Soft Opt-out system and deemed consent is all about. I hope to have these in print so I can distribute them locally by the end of the week. With 3,461 transplants having been carried out since 1st April 2015 but there still currently being 6455 people waiting for a transplant on the list - time is of the essence. I would like to end this update with one of the many comments I read from you that really hit home: "My daughter is on the heart transplant list. She is very proud of the fact that when she does receive her gift of life, the valves of her poorly heart will be used to help others. Don't look for complicated, helping to give life or keep life going is what makes us human. If you are prepared to receive you have to be prepared to give, and don't be fooled by thinking it could never happen to you. Having your world turned up side down is not imaginable or predictable but it happens. Please sign the petition so no organ recipient has to be on the lottery of life/death. Thank you." Thank you for that comment Fabienne. So please keep sharing – between Tracey, Samantha and myself we now have over 82,500 signatures only 17,500 to go! You are all truly fantastic.
