Georgia Fieldsend

I have recently been contacted by a wonderful woman called Ilse Fieldsend whose experience of Organ & Tissue donation is especially poignant with Christmas fast approaching. Christmas for those of us who celebrate it is mostly regarded as time for families and friends to come together to share in festive cheer, but as we're all aware it can also be for some an especially difficult for those of us where we may have family issues from not getting along with the in-laws to not being able to see all your family be it having parents who might've divorced resulting in children only seeing one parent this Christmas day or even having a relative serving away in the armed forces, or even because a loved one has passed away. Sadly this time of is a reminder of that for Ilse Fieldsend and her family, because this year Christmas Day will be two years since her daughter Georgia aged just 3 years-old collapsed on holiday in Egypt after suffering a fatal brain aneurysm. She was flown back to England on Boxing Day, but despite Kings College Doctors best efforts her parent’s worst nightmare came true and she died just a few days later. Her family at this unbearable time somehow managed to see through their grief and think of others and made the selfless, brave decision to donate Georgia's organs and she saved four people's lives including a baby boy and girl and a teenage boy, and gave sight to two young adults. Since her devastating death her Mum Ilse has been determined to bring something positive out of her daughter's heartbreakingly untimely death and is tirelessly promoting organ donation - especially because around half of parents approached about donating their child's organs say No. And sadly between 2009-2014 112 children in the UK alone died waiting for a transplant that never came. One of the ways Ilse is aiming to raise Organ & Tissue donation awareness is through people buying and supporting a song produced in Georgia's memory and Isle would love it to chart or even reach Number 1 in the lead up to Christmas as she knows it is a fantastic way for everyone to hear about Georgia's legacy and spread awareness about transplantation. Also Ilse would be promoting this petition as well keen for everyone who Agrees to sign ASAP to help us hit a Grand Total of 100,000 signatures before 27th April 2016.
