CONVERSATION. 6-7 p.m. “Florida and DC: Two Paths from Incarceration to Freedom.” Moderated by Radio One’s DJ QUICK SILVER. Will returning citizens in Florida get to vote? What is the status of bringing a parole board back to DC and creating a quality reentry center? PANELISTS: DC’s At-Large Councilman ROBERT WHITE, author of legislation to allow DC incarcerated citizens to vote from prison; From Florida, Vice-Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris’s political strategist VINCE EVANS; Reentry Advocates ERIC WEAVER from National Association for the Advancement of Returned Citizens, JOE HOUSTON from 70k Strong and #WEFITDC, and Don’t Mute DC Co-founder RONALD “Moe” MOTEN. Anacostia Coordinating Council’s PHILLIP PANNELL will discuss how the U.S. Census participation affects returning citizens.
CRANK! 7 p.m. BACKYARD BAND (voted the Washington City Paper 2020 “Best Go-Go Band”) will perform two 30-minute sets, during a live workout by #wefitdc, a group of returning citizens who are addressing health disparities in the Black community by hosting outdoor and virtual workouts across the city.
