Hello All,
We still keep hoping that the Council will prioritise getting the farm back open again for the local community.
They say that they have a commitment to doing so and the land being part of wider publicly accessible green open space but, with changes of administration and changing priorities, there are no guarantees. You may have seen that Mudchute Farm is also now under threat.
In the meantime, I have been gathering material from a wide range of contributors and sources for an exhibition during September, Newham Heritage Month, on the history of Newham City Farm since its foundation by leaders at the Mayflower Centre in Canning Town to its closure in 2021 and beyond.
I hope that many of you who have shown your support for the Save Newham City Farm campaign will also come and show your support for this project.
It's been truly enlightening and touching that people have opened up their hearts to tell me their stories and share the significance which working or volunteering at or visiting has had for them. It truly was a very special place and we hope that it will be again one day soon.
Best wishes,
Alison
