Convicted in 1998 by a Bastrop County, Texas, District Court jury for the 1996 abduction, rape, and murder of 19-year-old Stacey Stites, Rodney Reed has been on death row for over two decades. Reed, who has always maintained his innocence, had been scheduled for execution in November 2019, but received a 120-day reprieve, and later, an indefinite stay of execution from the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

“They’re giving us an opportunity to go to a hearing and to trial to prove his innocence,” says Rodney’s attorney, Quincy McNeal.
