Hello friends,
For those of you who are not subscribed to the CompassionWorks International e-newsletter, we wanted to update you about Betty the elephant.
Sadly, she was once again forced to perform and give rides around the country in 2022. We recently found her in Texas looking sad and despondent and suffering from numerous physical ailments. View the video here.
As a result of our findings, CWI has filed a formal complaint with the USDA on Betty's behalf citing numerous violations of the federal Animal Welfare Act.
Fortunately for Betty and elephants confined to the circus, many people are stepping up to act against circus cruelty! CWI is already organizing protests and other actions against animal circus performances in 2023. Numerous states, towns, and other locations have now instituted bans on the use of exotic animals for entertainment purposes. The world is changing! Thank you for being a part of that change. Let's keep up the good work and end horrible animal abusing circuses once and for all!
You can keep up-to-date about anti-animal circus activities at our dedicated website: circusprotest.com.
Not able to get directly involved but want to support our work? Please click here. Donations to our organization are being doubled by a generous donor through December 31 up to $15,000.
Make 2023 the year you get more active against animal cruelty. CWI is here to help!
Wishing you a happy holiday season.
For the animals,
Carrie LeBlanc, M.A.
