Here’s a quick round up of activity in the past few weeks.

Backbench Debate in Westminster On the 18th July there was a back bench debate on the Family Courts held in Westminster Hall. Rachel’s campaigning was mentioned and Jess Phillips MP read out some of your comments. In her closing summary Jess Phillips called for a Government review of Cafcass.

Domestic Abuse Bill consultation: You may recall we asked if we could submit the petition to the recent Government’s Consultation on ‘Transforming the Response to Domestic Abuse ‘. The Home affairs Committee team is now sifting through the responses and said that our petition and comments are being considered as ‘informal background information’. However, they also pointed out that the issues that we raise have also been raised in many other pieces of formal evidence that the Committee has received.

 Media interest & contact details:  We noticed a few people have left comments on the petition asking if we can be contacted directly. We have also had media approaches asking if we can signpost them to people who might be willing to share their story. Thanks to your support we are adding to a growing number of voices calling for reform but we really need many more signatures to help ensure this issue is not sidelined yet again.
