Potential Bylaw coming to General Purposes Committee on Monday! Please email Mayor Brodie

On Monday, July 15th, Richmond council's General Purposes Committee has single-use plastics/styrofoam first on the agenda to consider a bylaw to ban them. 

Please see the agenda here. If passed at this meeting, it should move forward to city council.

It is important that city councillors know that the public are demanding we end our reliance on single-use plastics, including plastic bags, styrofoam and single use plastic cutlery. 

This is a municipal issue because garbage and recycling impacts our community and city council has the right to regulate businesses in our community.

Please join me in asking our mayor and city councillors to implement a ban on these single use plastic items that are difficult to recycle and have become a burden on municipalities as they struggle to deal with the garbage that they create.
