Dr. Kieran Moore, Medical Officer of Health, KFL&A Public Health acknowledged our frustrations today in an article in the Kingston Whig Standard. The article is entitled "A runny nose is still a real symptom of COVID-19".

Our petition is not disputing that a runny nose is a real symptom of COVID-19. Children with runny noses should be tested for COVID-19. But once the test result comes back negative, children and their families must be allowed to get on with their lives: go back to work and go back to daycare/school. Mr. Moore we need your comments on this question: why is a negative COVID-19 test result for a kid with a runny nose essentially meaningless? The real reason parents may not want to have kids tested is because the test result does not change their immediate reality: stay home with your kid who poses a public health threat to no one.
