Thanks to everyone who came out to the Parks and Recreation committee meeting tonight! We had a good showing with about 34 participants in the Zoom meeting.
The Parks & Recreation committee is tasked with resident outreach. Despite giving a statement that said "RA is not currently planning to close pools," the committee will soon begin a "community engagement process" about the pool closing/repurposing proposals. These will be sessions where the committee asks local residents for input about the future of their pool.
Residents in the Tall Oaks and Shadowood pool areas will be up first. It appears that that this summer's planned construction (the funding for which was already approved) on both pools will be paused, in case the local community wants their pools to be repurposed.
According to the committee schedule, if you live near Tall Oaks or Shadowood pools, you can expect one or more opportunities to express your thoughts to the committee during the August -- October time frame. No word yet on the timing of meetings for Newbridge and Golf Course Island pools.
We'll post more updates as they happen. Please share the petition and our Facebook group with your cluster board, and ask them to alert all residents.
