KORS( Keep the Original Route Supporters Inc) members are concerned by VicRoads' destruction of exquisite, critically endangered vegetation between Beaufort and Stawell and beyond, in South Eastern Australia. Irreplaceable losses of habitat and very large ancient red and other gums have occurred because of bad design of the Western Highway upgrade. The corresponding losses of black cockatoos, powerful owls large and whole communities of small animals, birds and insects is not even calculated. The EES(Environmental Effects Statement) and consultation processes are a sham, and are broken. The authorities focus on bureaucratic procedure instead of good environmental and community outcomes. Public consultation was minimal and the Project's Director admitted affected people were not informed at the planning stage of the scale of the damage planned. KORS makes this open invitation to support magnificent native trees outside parks and reserves. Whether along side roads, or on paddocks, beside water courses or in graveyards. We need to be visible in public. We want to influence the state and federal Governments, to uphold the law to protect natural and cultural heritage. Every person who joins us buoys our spirits, and impresses the government that they're on the wrong track. We can stop the ecocide. Please join us. www.fixfreewayfiasco.org Share the petition, write to politicians.
