Important Update: October 24 Date Change & Committee Volunteers Needed

First, I want to sincerely thank everyone who has signed and supported this petition. Your willingness to stand up, make your voices heard, and take an interest in the future of our community means a great deal.

I wanted to provide everyone with an update on where we currently stand and what comes next.

We are moving our planned date to Saturday, October 24, 2026.

We are continuing to work through the necessary steps to move this process forward, but we still have a couple of openings on the petition committee that need to be filled.

We need your help!

The committee is an important part of getting this process officially underway. We have already had individuals step forward and offer their assistance, but we still need a few more people willing to get involved.

Our goal is to have the committee finalized as soon as possible so we can move forward with the October 24 date.

Here’s what happens next:

Once the committee is complete, we will submit the official petition paperwork to the Town Clerk’s Office for review. The clerk then has two business days to approve or reject the petition paperwork.

Once the petition has been approved, we can begin collecting the signatures required for the official process.

It is important to understand that the signatures collected on Change.org have helped demonstrate community interest and support, but they are separate from the official signatures we will need to collect.

If you are interested in serving on the committee, please reach out to me as soon as possible. Even if you cannot serve on the committee, there will be other opportunities to help as we move forward.

I will be sending another update with additional details about October 24, including what to expect and how everyone can participate.

Again, thank you to everyone who has supported this effort. Community involvement is what makes a process like this possible, and I appreciate everyone who has taken the time to be involved.

More information coming soon!
